The wait for an inaugural Premier League win of the season goes on for Roberto De Zerbi and Tottenham after it ended 0-0 with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

By far the most notable action of the match came in the second half when Neco Williams had a goal disallowed. The Welshman, who was subject to serious interest from the Lilywhites over the course of the summer, bundled the ball over the line after Morgan Gibbs White had an effort saved and Sandro Tonali skewed a clearance.

Referee Craig Pawson disallowed the goal following advice from VAR official Peter Bankes, deeming that Williams had inadvertently handled the ball into the net, much to the outrage of the home support.

Omar Marmoush had Spurs’ best chances of the game. In the first half, he saw an effort roll past the post having been played in behind by Pedro Porro and in the second he travelled all the way into the penalty area before blasting an effort over the bar.

In truth, the scoreline was a fair one. Spurs were marginally on top in the first 45 minutes without creating all that much. The Lilywhites’ best spell came just after the break - a barrage of early second-half pressure bared no fruit before the home side gradually took control of the game.

Savio and Udogie were taken off in the 60th minute. Both seem to be having their minutes restricted as they return from injury, though it must be said that Spurs lost their spark in attacking areas when the Brazilian was replaced by Mohammed Kudus.

Matheus Fernandes came on late and was booked within just a minute of being on the pitch. Dominic Solanke was another late substitution - the Englishman saw a header go just over the bar in what was a half chance with just minutes to go.

Mykhaylo Mudryk got his first touches in lilywhite, making his first competitive appearance since 2024 after he was banned for 2 years for drug misuse. The Ukrainian was not massively involved after coming on.

The sound of the final whistle meant Tottenham are now winless in their first three Premier League games. For the first time since the 1974-75 season, Spurs have failed to score in their opening three games.

Next up for Tottenham is a home fixture against Everton amidst mounting pressure on both Roberto De Zerbi and his squad.
