Connor Gallagher was on target as Tottenham continued their unbeaten pre-season run, fighting back to secure a 1-1 draw against Getafe at Hotspur Way in a 70-minute affair.

A quiet albeit physical first 35-minute half saw no gilt-edged chances for either side. Lucas Bergvall went closest after his neat run opened up space at the edge of the box, with his effort tame and into the hands of Getafe keeper David Sofia.

Following the break, the first goal of the game came for the visitors. Getafe midfielder Alberto Risco finished with aplomb past Antonin Kinsky following a tidy interchange with half-time substitute Curro Burgos.

It was a first look for Spurs fans at summer signing Jan Paul Van Hecke. The Dutchman didn’t cover himself in glory for Getafe’s first but did impress with an array of line-breaking forward passes throughout the game.

Just over five minutes later, Gallagher equalled the scoreline. A forward ball intended for Richarlison skipped past both the Brazilian and the touch-tight Getafe defender, before Gallagher latched onto the loose ball and fired low into the bottom left corner.

There were a couple of flashpoints in what should have been a friendly affair, with the most notable involving Sandro Tonali, who played the entirety of the game. The Italian felt the full force of a late challenge, and pushing and shoving ensued between both sets of players.

Roberto De Zerbi made no substitutions at any point in the game, which meant young starlet Mikey Moore got a full outing amidst the stalling of his move to FC Köln.

Upon the 70th minute, the referee called a stop to proceedings, with Tottenham’s next test coming in seven days at home to Hoffenheim.
