The wait is finally over Tottenham fans - Savinho, after a year-long pursuit, has officially signed for the club.

Like last summer and January, the Lilywhites made the Brazilian a priority target, this time for Roberto De Zerbi’s rebuild.

Doubt had been cast over the deal again over the course of the summer, with the fee City quoted for the winger changing week on week.

But, to many’s relief, just over four days ago, it was announced that Spurs may finally have got their man, having agreed a £75 million initial fee which could rise to £85 million should certain conditions be met.

Savinho or Savio as he is nicknamed, completed his medical over the weekend and into Monday, before official communication came from the club this morning that the transfer was complete.

He will wear the number 17.

Xavi Simons was instrumental in the announcement video for the newcomer, with the two having played together whilst in Holland for PSV Eindhoven.

Savinho, in truth, has struggled during his time in England at Manchester City, scoring just 7 goals and adding 12 assists in 84 appearances for the Blue Moon.

Despite featuring 84 times for the Citizens, his actual minutes have been relatively limited since his move from Girona FC.

That being said, De Zerbi views the player as one he can unlock to be a superstar, and internally the club are said to be delighted with his acquisition.

Spurs’ business is far from done just yet, an additional two forwards are still desired with sales for Richarlison and Pape Sarr not ruled out.
